原ちけい on Instagram: "Until 12/7!! Serving as one of curator for the Hachioji Art Festival 2025, organized by Hachioji City. This is a circular art festival rotates across the city every two years. For this second edition, I have been involved since last autumn, starting with local research. The entire process was an act of groping, where everything—research, exhibition planning, and negotiations with neighborhood associations (!)—had to be built simultaneously from scratch. Together with co-curator Kazumi Tasaka, close collaboration with 13 participating artists to develop exhibitions that unearth local contexts, reflect on suburban life, facilitate architect workshops and cultivate the seeds of future community development. Admittedly, working with limited time and resources presented real struggles regarding accessibility and maintaining the overall quality of the project. However, this process allowed me to touch upon possibilities in adjacent fields that art alone cannot usually reach. Deep gratitude is extended to all the artists and community members who made this project possible. The festival also includes associated programs, such as a group exhibition by textile artists at Kukando, a special presentation at Okuda Printing, and a program led by the disability welfare organization Kate Kate Network showcased across 30 locations.Hiroshi Nakamura contributed to the conceptual development, with Fumiko Toda serving as production manager. While many challenges remain, this project offers a glimpse into the soft power that art can generate when placed in such a diverse and dynamically shifting environment.
